1、实训项目六,商务翻译,每三至四个人为一组，将班级学生分成若干组，采用互动讨论、实践操作等方式完成本章节实训任务。,1、能够翻译商务信函。2、能够准确地翻译商务说明书。3、能够翻译简单的商务合同及法律条款。,掌握商务翻译的标准和基本要求，熟练掌握商务英语翻译技巧。,一、商务英语翻译的标准 商务英语没有统一的翻译标准，现行通用的标准是“忠实、通顺”，而最高标准是“功能对等”。所谓“忠实”，指忠实于原作的内容。译者必须把原作的内容完整而准确地表达出来，不得有任何篡改、歪曲、遗漏或任意增删的现象。正如鲁迅先生所说的，翻译必须“保存着原作的风姿”；所谓“通顺”，指译文语言必须通顺易懂，符合规范。译文必须
2、是明白晓畅的现代语言，没有逐字死译、硬译的现象，没有语言晦涩的现象，没有文理不通、结构混乱、逻辑不清的现象。正如鲁迅先生所说的翻译必须“力求其易解”；所谓“功能对等”，是指经过翻译，译文与原文之间在信息内容、信息承载方式、交际目的（预期功能）和交际效果等方面最大限度地保持不变，这样的翻译就称得上“功能对等”。,第一节 知识巩固,1、忠实通顺的翻译标准原文：Western Europe has been hit harder than the United States and Japan. Some relatively self-reliant poor countries, such as
3、 India, have been partly insulated. 该句中的“hit harder” 和“have been partly insulated”的翻译能否达到“忠实”“通顺”的标准，影响到译文的质量。“hit harder than”的含义为“受到的影响比要大”，“have been partly insulated”的含义为“至今（只）受到部分影响”。这里的insulated为物理学中常用动词，意为“使其绝缘了”。如果是partly insulated（部分绝缘了），因为上文中的主语为“经济衰退”，那么，就应转译为“（只）受到部分影响”，由此可初步得出“受到经济衰退的部分
4、影响”的翻译结果。英语中语句的表达方式多使用被动语态，而汉语中通常习惯使用主动语态，考虑这一因素后，后半句中文译文应该是“经济衰退至今只在一定程度上影响到了一些诸如印度等那些相对自力更生的穷国。”,第一节 知识巩固,2、功能对等的翻译标准原文：,第一节 知识巩固,这封信函有两个主要功能：信息功能和呼唤功能。信息功能，即向信函读者传达相关信息，如己方已获悉对方接受订货、信用证已开出等；呼唤功能，即向信函读者传达己方的希望，呼唤对方去思考和行动，如希望对方将所订货物迅速装船，并由“无锡”号装运等。翻译时必须确保这两个功能的实现，既要准确无误地传达相关信息，又要成功唤起信函接收者的行动。,第一节 知
5、识巩固,二、商务说明书的翻译技巧,第一节 知识巩固,商务说明书是为了向用户和读者宣传推销某项新产品，介绍产品的性能，使用方法和价值作用，但其中首先起宣传作用。这种就需要翻译的文字简洁，并且需要用具有吸引力的广告语言。 1、在说明书中，短句的使用非常普遍，特别是祈使句（imperative sentence），这样可以使用户一目了然。例如“立即关闭阀门”在英语中可以有下列四种译法，但祈使句的使用最为普遍。 Close the valve immediately. (祈使句，通常省略you) The Operator must close the valve immediately.（第三人称）
6、You must close the valve immediately. (第二人称) The valve must be closed immediately. (无人称句) 2、翻译说明书时必须弄清技术细节，用词准确，符合英语习惯。 （1）弄清与产品有关的技术：例如，在翻译计算机软件时，有这样一句话：程序输入后，软件指示灯即显示出来。,After the program has been entered, the software pilot lights are displayed. 上句由于错误理解了计算机的自动运转，程序是由机器自动输入的，程序输入后软件指示灯立即显示，所以错用了
7、“has been entered” 被动语态。上句可以改成： After the program has entered, the software pilot lights are displayed. （2）选词必须注意搭配：例如： 盐酸黄连素片用于治疗肠胃炎，腹泻及菌痢等。 Berberine Hydrochloride Tablet Action and uses: Applied for treatment of enterritis, gastritis, diarrhea and bacterial dysentery. 这里的 “applied for” 显然应该为“appl
8、ied to”才对，前者的意思是“申请”，后者是“应用于”。或者去掉“applied”, 只用“for treatment of”。,第一节 知识巩固,3、说明书中一般都有一项“注意事项”，英语可以根据不同程度翻译为：CARE, NOTE, CAUTION, PRECAUTION, WARNING, DANGER等。这 一般放在说明书末尾，而且需用大写或者不同颜色表达出来。这一项翻译通常要求用简短的祈使句，并常用dont, not, never这一类否定词。如： （1）勿使录像带在阳光下暴晒。 Do not leave the VIDEO CASSETTE exposed directly t
9、o the sun. （2）切勿随意拆下透镜。 Be sure not to dismantle the lens at will. （3）不要让吸尘器吸入潮湿泥尘或烟灰。 Never let the cleaner pick up wet dirt, mud, or tobacco ashes. 有时为了避免使用否定词过多而改用委婉的含否定意义的说法。如： （1）勿使电视机接近热源。 Keep the TV set away from heat sources. （2）直到温度达到80以前，保持压力不变。 Keep pressure constant until temperature is
10、 at least 80.,第一节 知识巩固,三、商务法律合同与协议的翻译技巧 1、合理补充公文语惯用副词 为了使译文结构严谨、逻辑严密、言简意赅，且符合英文商务合同的表达习惯，在汉译英时，酌情使用英语惯用的一套公文语副词，会使译文更地道、流畅。但是从一些合同的英文译本中我们可以发现，这种公文语副词常被普通词语所代替，从而影响到译文的质量。实际上，这种公文语惯用副词为数并不多，而且构词简单易记。常用的这类副词是由here，there，where 等副词分别加上after，by，in，of，on，to，under，upon，with等副词，构成一体化形式的公文语副词。 例（1）、本合同自买方和建
11、造方签署之日生效。 译文: This Contract hereby comes into effect from the date of execution by the Purchaser and the Builder. 比较: This Contract comes into effect from the date signed by the Buyer and the Builder.,第一节 知识巩固,例（2）、下述签署人同意在中国制造新产品，其品牌以此为合适。 译文: The undersigned hereby agrees that the new products whe
12、reto this trade name is appropriate are made in China. 比较: The signer below agrees that the new products are made in China and this trade name is appropriate. 从以上两句译文比较发现，例译（1）文中合理补充了hereby 后更充分地体现了“签署”和“生效”的因果关系，译文更有逻辑感，例（2）译文中合理补充了hereby和whereto两个副词后，把两个并列分句改编成了从属关系，更符合原文表达，加入古体连词whereto引导定语从句，与to
13、 which同义。 2、谨慎选词，力克模糊 英译商务合同时，常常由于选词不当而导致词不达意或者意思模棱两可，有时甚至表达的是完全不同的含义。因此，了解与掌握极易混淆的词语的区别极为重要，是提高英译质量的关键因素之一。例（1）、双方都应遵守/ 双方的一切活动都应遵守合同规定。 译文:Both parties shall abide by/ All the activities of both parties shall comply with the contractual stipulations. 句中的两个“遵守”翻译应不一样。当主语是“人”时，英译“遵守”须用abide by。当主语是非
14、人称时，则用comply with 英译“遵守”。,第一节 知识巩固,例（2）、该货于11 月10 日由“东风”轮运出，41 天后抵达香港。 译文: The goods shall be shipped per M. V. “Dong Feng” on November 10 and are due to arrive at Hong Kong in 41 days. 例（3）、发票货值须货到付给。 译文: The invoice value is to be paid on / upon arrival of the goods. 上述句子中都含有时间的不同表达方式。例（2）中“多少天之后”
15、必须用介词in，而不能用after，因为介词after 指的是“多少天之后”的不确切的任何一天。例（3）中“ 到后， 就”须用介词on/ upon，而不用after，因为after 表示“之后”的时间不明确。英语中时间的界定只有依靠介词的微小区别来判别，翻译时应慎之又慎。 3、慎重处理合同细目一般来说，英译合同中容易出现差错的地方，不是大的陈述性条款，恰恰是一些关键的细目，比如金钱、时间、数量等。为了避免出差错，英译合同时，常常使用一些有限定作用的结构来界定细目所指定的确切范围。 例（1）、如果上述货物对船舶和(或)船上其他货物造成任何损害, 托运人应负全责。 译文: The shipper
16、shall be liable for all damage caused by such goods to the ship and/ or cargo on board.,第一节 知识巩固,例（2）、买卖双方同意按下述条款购买出售下列商品并签订本合同。 译文: This Contract is made by and between the Buyer and the Seller, whereby the Buyer agrees to buy and the Seller agrees to sell the under mentioned commodity subject to t
