Course Objective This course introduces culture, history, development, aesthetic idea, etc, of ethnic groups costume and ornaments, is aimed at raising students understanding of culture of ethnic costume and ornaments, bes
9、ides fashion. . Course Content This course needs students to have a comprehensive knowledge to analyze and understand ethnic groups costume and ornaments. The related knowledge covers folklore, religion, social science, aesthetics of costume, etc. UNIT I: Introduction of development and overall char
10、acters of ethnic costume and ornaments in both China and foreign countries. Teaching hours: 10 (China, 5 hours, foreign countries, 5 hours)Content: i. Ethnic costume and ornaments in China. Take some typical examples, such as Tibetan, Uygur, Miao, Mongolian, etc; introduce shape and structure, color
11、, patterns, accessories, and symbolic meaning of the costume and ornaments. ii. Ethnic costume ornaments in foreign countries. Take African, American Indian, Japanese, Korean, Indian, and Nepal for examples, introduce and analyze their basic characters, and symbolic meaning respectively. UNIT II: In
12、troduction of basic theoretic knowledge related. Teaching hours: 8Content: i. Based on the background of each ethnic group, introduce its national religion, philosophical view of the world, geographical environment, and folk custom. ii. Introduce methods of understanding culture of ethnic costume an
13、d ornaments. It is an overall consideration, folk, social science, philosophy, religion, and aesthetics, etc, will be used. UNIT III: Appreciation of culture of traditional ethnic costume and ornaments. Teaching hours: 10 (Classroom hours: 2, Lab Hours: 8)Content: Culture of ethnic costume and ornam
14、ents has an overall character of multiple composite, growing with a multidimensional, centripetal, and continuous developing. Furthermore, discuss the aesthetic character of ethnic costume and ornaments with related theoretic knowledge learned. UNIT IV: Ethnic costume and ornaments development in pr
15、esent situation. Teaching hours: 2Content: Have an overall look on the development of the whole ethnic costume and ornaments at present. Think about how each ethnic group stick to its nature, adopting available cultural elements from others selectively, and making its costume and ornaments keep up w
16、ith the times. UNIT V: Ethnic elements influence on modern fashion design. Teaching hours: 2Content: The application of ethnic elements in modern fashion design is mostly expressed by religious belief, color, and patterns, and the fashion designer blends modern and ethnic elements into a unity.
