As for Beijing, the centre of all kinds of culture from all the world, it seems to be more tolerate to this type of people. To make a comparison wit

3、of the same gender as ours and it appeared apparently when we were in our childhood. (Freud,1856) Some people repress this thought considering the pressure from the public and hinder their sexual proclivities. However, there has been a higher percentage of gay than ever before in Beijing but not as

4、high as that is in America(about 20%).MediaGay is just a case of different sexual orientation from many other people. Generally, gay men will attach more attention to their appearance and dressing, for that there has been a famous American show “ Queer guy for the straight guy ”(5 gay guys do the ma

5、keover for one straight guy and help him to form a more fashionable taste). As for National Broadcasting Company, a case in point of the mainstream media,it places the play “Will and Grace” in the peak viewing time. The two heroes of this play are two gays and the actor has won many prizes because o

6、f his excellent performance in it.On the contray, there is no television program related to gay in China. Its not allowed to be played on the television stations. Yet, there are still many websites of gay in China, setting up a stage for the gays to show themselves and make friends.PolicyIn America,

7、 5 states allow gay marriage and those couples can receive benefits of a married couple in them (New Hampshire, Iowa, Massachusetts, Vermont and Connecticut) and the District of Columbia. In other states,some gay couples also have something called civil union, from which they can get insurance or ot

8、her benefits. Whats more, they can adopt a child if they would like to, but typically only one partner can do this. It means that they would have better chances of having one partner go through the adoption process as a single parent without admitting they are in a homosexual relationship. At the sa

9、me time, this also means that the other partner does not have any legal rights over the child. So, if they spouse that adopted the child dies, they have no rights to the child, even if they child has lived with them forever. However, this kind of marriage is totally banned from China and its not acc

10、epted to the government and public. They wont have the right to get the marriage lines or adopt children.CommunityThere are always gay pride parades all over the place in America especially in some large cities like San Francisco, which appeals to many gays, lesbians, bisexual and transvestite. Nowa

11、days, there have also been more and more communities of gay in Beijing such as Queer Movie Club and Aibai. To fight for the right for the gay, they occasionally organized different kinds of activities (lecture, gay film festival, pride parades, etc).Self-understandingHere is a survey made in Destina

12、tion, a famous gay bar in Beijing.Many gays (especially the men to play the female character in their relationship ) efface themselves. One said that he felt he was so ugly that he couldnt find a boyfriend for a long time. Some people held negative opinions towards the development of the rights of g

13、ay in China that they believed the marriage between gays would not be legal in the following 50 years. Almost every gay that goes to this bar has a baseline, which means one night stand is usually turned down there. There are also some people who are very glad to share their feelings with the straig

14、ht men (heterosexual) in Beijing and they will try to introduce the information to the others in a much more expressive way.In Carolina, maybe there are more gay guys who legitimize themselves. They have the confidence to communicate with the others and get along quite well with their friends, both

15、homosexual and heterosexual included.
