In fact, Jane Eyre is Charlottes embodiment. This paper will discuss this question through the followi

7、ng aspects. their family background and the experience of being governesses between Jane Eyre and Charlotte Bronte; their feminine courageousness; their religious belief. Before discussing, I will introduce the social background of Jane Eyre, the information of charlotte Bronte and the introduction

8、of Jane Eyre. This paper is about the same parts between Charlotte Bronte and Jane Eyre. Charlotte Bronte came from a large family of Irish origin. When she was young, she was sent to a school for clergymens daughters. As she grew up, she worked either as a teacher or a governess in some private fam

9、ilies. Later, she fell in love with a married man, her German professor. In fact, Jane Eyre is her embodiment. Among Charlotte Brontes four full-length novels, three are composed in the form of autobiography: Jane Eyre (1847), Valletta (1853), and The Professor (published posthumously in 1857).The a

10、bundance of first-person narratives in Brontes juvenile writings also highlights her marked preference for the first-person perspective in telling stories.In fact, due to the vital sense of truth inherent in first-person narration, Bronte is often identified by her readers as the heroines in her nov

11、els.This thesis aims to deal with the complex relationships of the authoress, her works, and the first-person narration.As a famous woman writer in the nineteenth century, Bronte satisfies her desire for self-expression by means of writing autobiographical fictions instead of composing her real auto

12、biography.The first chapter examines the social and cultural contexts as well as Brontes personal reasons behind such a choice.II) The Introduction of Jane EyreJane Eyre is one of the great works in 19 centuries. It described that Jane was an orphan, and she was passed into the care of Mrs. Reed of

13、Gateshead Hall. At Gateshead hall Jane knew ten years of neglect and abuse. One day a cousin knocked her to the floor. When she fought back, Mrs. Reed punished her and made arrangements for Janes admission to Logwood School. At Logwood, Jane was a diligent student, at the end of her studies Jane was

14、 retained as a teacher. When Jane grew weary of her life at Logwood, she advertised for a position as governess. Mrs. Fairfax, housekeeper at Thorn field, near Millstone, engaged her. Jane met Mr. Rochester for the first time while she was outtalking, going to his aid after his horse had thrown him,

15、 quick to change in his manner toward her, brusque in his speech. Jane felt that this experience alone could not account for Mr. Rochesters moody nature; they fell in love with each other. At the church, as the vows were being said, a stranger spoke up declaring the existence of an impediment to the

16、 marriage. He presented an affirmation, signed by the Mr. Mason who had been wounded during his visit to Thornfield. The document stated that Edward Fairfax Rochester had married Bertha Mason, Mr. Masons sister, in Spanish Town, Jamaica, fifteen years before. Mr. Rochester admitted this fact; Jane f

17、elt that she must leave Thornfield at once. She notified Mr. Rochester and left quietly early the next morning, using all her small store of money for the coach fare. Two days later she was set down on the moors of a north midland shire. Starving, she actually begged for food. Finally she was befrie

18、nded by the Reverend St. John Rivers and his sisters, Marry and Diana, who took Jane in and nursed her back to health. Assuming the name of Jane Elliot, she refused to divulge anything of her history except her connection with the Lowood institution. Reverend Rivers eventually found place for her as

19、 mistress in a girls school. When St. John decided to go to India as a missionary, he asked Jane to go with him as his wife -not because he loved her, as he frankly admitted, but because he admired her and wanted her services as his assistant. Jane felt indebted to him for his kindness and aid, but

20、she hesitated to accept his proposal. St. John was awaiting her decision; she dreamed that Mr. Rochester was calling her name. The next day she returned to Thornfield by coach. Arriving there, she found the mansion gutted-a burned and blackened ruin. Neighbors told her that fire had broken out one stormy night, set by the madwoman, who died while Mr. Rochester was trying to rescue her from the roof of the blazing house. He blinded during the fire. Jane went to him and they married.III) The Information of Charlotte Bronte
