The Story of Sons and LoversIn the beginning of fiction focuses on the scene of Mrs. Moral meets a rough-temperament miner at a Christmas dance and fall

Because live in the different class, soon after marriage to Walter Morel, she realizes the difficulties of living off his salary in a rented house. So that she has many arguments with her husband, some of which have painful results: on se
15、parate occasions, she is locked out of the house and hit in the head with a drawer. Character decides destiny, the differences of Moral couples personality result in the fight at last. Mrs. Moral is haughty, strong and possessive and decisive; but as Mr. Moral is opening, cheerful, energetic and pas
16、sionate to the society. Weaknesses in the character are bound to his failure. In front of his wife, he turns timid, and suppresses own anger, helpless to endure his wifes despise. Only in drunk, he will turn to the strongest and most vulgar way to vent his dissatisfaction, however after sobering up,
17、 he would shame for his actions. From beginning to end, he cant correctly face wife. Finally, Mrs. Moral abandoned her husband completely from the spiritual level. On the one hand, she tried to defeat her husbands gumption and make him down to a more humble position; On the other hand, when a child
18、born in succession, Mrs. Moral transfers all love to her children and seek spiritual comfort and satisfaction from them. Gradually, Mrs. Morels affections begin to shift to her oldest son., William who is so attached to his mother that he doesnt care for the affair without her. As he becomes mature,
19、 he protests her against his fathers occasional violence. But When William goes to London for a job, Mrs. Morel is devastated. William comes home, bringing with his fiancee, a young lady who treats the Morels like servants. Having spent too much time at work and with his fiancee, William catches pne
20、umonia and dies. After William s death, Mrs. Morel turns her love and attention to Paul. Paul, is always sensitive and emotional, gets a job at Thomas Jordans, a surgical applicants factory and strikes a friendship with Miriam Leviers. Mrs. Morel does not like Miriam because in her view Miriam takes
21、 all of Pauls energy, desire, and feelings with nothing left of him for her. Miriam introduces Paul to Clara Dawes, whose mother is friendly with Mrs. Leviers and who is separated from her husband, Baxter Dawes. After Paul and Miriam have sex, he makes up his mind that they are not good for each oth
22、er, and breaks off their relationship, to Miriams anger and bitterness. Paul heads into an intensely sexual relationship with Clara. Miriam speculates that the Morels have accepted Clara as Pauls lover as they have not liked her at all. Paul and Clara share a passionate, sexual relationship. As much
23、 as Paul thinks that he is happy, his mother believes otherwise; she knows in her heart that Clara will tire her son out. However, but when Clara knows that Dawes is ill, Clara unexpectedly alleges that her husband had treated her respectfully and had loved her more than Paul ever did, so that Clara
24、 decides to return back to Dawes. In the end, Pauls mother falls ill and he devotes much of his time to caring for her. When she finally dies, he is broken-hearted and, after a final plea from Miriam, goes off alone at the end of the novel. The Oedipus Complex of Paul A. Brief Introduction of Oedipu
25、s ComplexOedipus complex is a term in psychoanalytic theory founded by Sigmund Freud, Austria psychologist and psychiatrist.1 This concept is introduced in Interpretation of Dreams (1899): referring to the two Greek legends: the Theban hero Oedipus who unknowingly slew his father and married his mot
26、her, and its female analogue, Electra who helped slay her mother. If the child cant smoothly pass through this mental stage, there should occur an infantile neurosis that is an important forerunner of similar reactions during the childs adult life. The superego also has its origin in the process of
