Learning English can be a very difficult task for most people, this is because we don not live in an environment where we are forced to speak or write English. So I think the most import way to learn Engl

2、ish is by communicating with others using the language itself and not just learn from the book. I m sure if you live in an environment such as a foreign country and were forced to speak and write English everyday then your English will improve dramatically.Although we must agree that we need to read

3、 and write English from the book in order to get the foundations and words that we need for basic communication, this is essential but as I said, this is only a foundation, what you develop afterwards all depends on your ability to adapt to an environment and your courage.Keywords: English; learning

We may have the feeling of satisfaction and achievement from our English study when we are able to say something simple in English, talk with others or foreigners in English and act as oth

And we should certainly carry out these plans to the letter.1.2 NotesNotes should be made whenever we study any book. We may follow this advice: Dont read book without making no

7、tes. As we know that notes are the summarization, the core content, our understanding and the abbreviations of the books. Our notes are much thinner than the books so that we can learn them by heart easier and can often review and read them. We may also record our notes on tapes so as to often liste

8、n to them easier, to deepen our impression and to lighten our burden of memory. Sometimes it is needful to draw some tables and illustrations that are very impressive, visual and concise.1.3 WatchingWatching English movies, English TV programs, listening to English songs and learn English on some sp

9、ecial occasions are also excellent and vivid English learning ways as we may combine English with some certain scenes to deepen our memory.1.4 Learn By HeartNever just memorize single English words. Learn by heart the whole sentences and the phrases that contain the new words so we may know how to u

10、se the words.1.5 Read Dictionary If time permits, we may read Mini Chinese-English dictionary carefully from cover to cover, which may help us widen our sight and master knowledge in all aspects.1.6 Excellent personalityExcellent personality is one of the decisive factors in English study. Here,I will introduce detail method about the oral English learning, vocabulary Learning and listening learning.2 Oral English learning2.1 communicationsWe study spoken English so as to make oral communications, so this order of impor

12、tance of oral English study should be followed: Fluency, Accuracy, and Appropriateness. That is to say, we have to pay more attention to practical communicating ability instead of only laying emphasis on the grammatical correctness.2.2 English cornerTry to find some partners practicing oral English

13、together and English corner is a good place as where we may exchange English study experience, widen our sight and improve interest in English.2.3 English environmentIf English partners are not easy to get, then we have to create an English environment ourselves by speaking English to ourselves.2.4

14、other methodsThis method is very effective and easy to insist on-interpreting Chinese-English novels or books. First we read the Chinese parts and then try to interpret them into English and then compare our interpretation with the original versions in the novels or books so that we can find out the

15、 mistakes, shortcomings and progresses in our interpretation.3 Vocabulary Learning 3.1 Read, Read, Read! Read, Read, Read! Most vocabulary words are learned from context. The more words youre exposed to, the better vocabulary you will have. While you read, pay close attention to words you don not kn

16、ow. First, try to figure out their meanings from context. Then look the words up. Read and listen to challenging material so that you will be exposed to many new words.3.2 improve your context skills. Research shows that the vast majority of words are learned from context. Learning a word wont help very much if you promptly fo

18、rget it. Research shows that it takes from 10 to 20 repetitions to really make a word part of your vocabulary. It helps to write the word - both the definition and a sentence you make up using the word - perhaps on an index card that can later be reviewed. As soon as you learn a new word, start usin

19、g it. Review your index cards periodically to see if you have forgotten any of your new words. Also, do a search on a word using (for searching newsgroups) to get many examples of how the word is actually used.Vocabulary Learning Tip Four:3.4 Make up as many associations and connections as possible.

20、 Say the word aloud to activate your auditory memory. Relate the word to words you already know. For example, the word GARGANTUAN (very large) has a similar meaning to the words gigantic, huge, large, etc. You could make a sequence: small, medium, large, very large, GARGANTUAN. List as many things a

21、s you can that could be considered GARGANTUAN: Godzilla, the circus fat lady, the zit on your nose, etc. Create pictures of the words meaning that involve strong emotions. 23、ou best. Everyone learns differently!3.6Get in the habit of looking up words you dont know. If you have a dictionary program on your computer, keep it open and handy. America Online and other internet services have dictionaries and thesauruses on their tool bars. Find them and look up any word you a

24、re not absolutely sure of. Use a thesaurus when you write to find the word that fits best.I. Play with words. Play Scrabble, Boggle, and do crossword puzzles. These and other word games are available for the computer, so you are not dependent on a partner to play. Also, try out the Franklin Electron

For the serious vocabulary student, there are many books that focus on the words most commonly found in standardized tests, such as the SAT and GRE. There are also many interesting word sites on the Internet, many of which will

Playing games, such as the ones on this site, that test your knowledge will help you learn new words and also let you know how much progress youre making. Offline sources for vocabulary tests include SAT prep books (we recommend 10 Real SATs

27、 by ETS), and the Readers Digest Word power section. For more, check out A or your local bookseller.3.9 Get excited about words! Come to appreciate the sometimes-subtle differences between them. Do you know the difference between something that denotes something else and something that connotes some

28、thing else? If not, go look it up. Learn to say what you really mean and discover the joys of being able to express yourself in writing. Your future can depend on how rich your vocabulary is. A good vocabulary will make a difference on the standardized tests, like the SAT and GRE that could determin

29、e whether or where you go to college. It will also determine the quality of your communication. So be in it for the long pull. Let building your vocabulary be a lifelong proposition. Remember: In the beginning was the word. Until you have a word for something, it does not exist for you. Name it, and

30、 you have made your reality richer.4 Listening learningHearing the importance of not self-evident, students should raise the level of hearing, first of all, a solid foundation in grammar and vocabulary certain; Second, we must pay attention to the following questions:4.1 Change the traditional way o
