The language used by a person can reflect his class in the society, by changing a persons conversation and language even can make he from the lower class turned to the upper class. Therefore, through this work I deeply appreciate the power
4、of language. Learning a language can change a person, not only his social status but also his character, the way of thinking, and his fate. Take myself for example, I was introverted, unconfident, and unsociable before learning English. However, with English being a lively and beautiful language, I
5、have been keen on learning and speaking. The more Ive spoken it, the less introverted Ive been. Gradually, Ive become extroverted, confident, and sociable. Whats more, as Ive learned more about English, I found that my thinking way, to some extent, has some subtle changes. The process of learning En
6、glish going from bewilderment, to struggle to communicate, to communicate that flows but with a particular stiltedness that natives speakers lack changes how I view communication, how I view other people learning English and myself. I think this is the most valuable part of language learning as a wa
7、y of changing perspective. Not because a new language will allow me to think different thoughts, nor even because it will give my access to people whose thoughts differ from my own, but because it will help me understand myself in a way that wasnt possible before. In the play Pygmalion, language sho
8、ws the social status and mental state of character vividly. In my opinion, I think language is just a symbol, it symbolizes the people pursue the progress and the value of life. At the end of the play, Eliza became an autonomous and independently lady, and after learned the language, she accessed to
9、 a professional skill and became self-reliant. It illustrated that after learning a language, people can gain the self-affirmation and recognition of others. Elizas changing in the process of language learning can also prove that language has a major impact to change a person. Therefore, I think it is undeniable that learning a language can change a person, change a persons attitude to life, and change a persons destiny.
