11、使用时很容易出错,归纳以下几点,希望引起注意。(1) 单独使用时,通常用复数形式。如:Hes good-looking, and hes got brains. 他长得好看,而且有头脑。You need brains to become a university professor. 当大学教授要有才智。注意,即使使用复数形式,仍表示单数意义(有的词典将brains看作是不可数名词);若用作主语,其后谓语通常要用单数。如:Brains is more than just education. 有头脑不仅仅指受过教育。注意,英语习惯上不说:He has brain.(2) 受描绘性形容词修饰时,

12、通常连用不定冠词。如:She has an active brain. 她头脑灵活。She has an excellent brain. 她很有头脑。注意,英语习惯上不说:He has good brain.(3) 连用物主代词时,用单数形式或复数形式均可。如:Use your brain(s). 动动脑子吧。My brain is too dull. 我的脑子太笨。Wheres your brains? 你的脑子到哪里去了(即你怎么不动动脑子)?(4) 受much, little修饰时,从理论上说应该用单数形式,但在实际运用中,有时也可用复数形式(因为brains习惯上被视为不可数名词)。

13、如:He hasnt got much brain. 他没什么头脑。He has very little brains. 他没什么头脑。die of与die from有何区别表示死的原因,其后通常接介词of或from, 其区别大致为:(1) 若死因存在于人体之上或之内(主要指疾病、衰老等自身的原因),一般用介词 of。如:die of illness (heart trouble, cancer, a fever, etc) 死于疾病(心脏病、癌症、发烧等)(2) 若死因不是存在人体之内或之上,而是由环境造成的(主要指事故等方面的外部原因),一般用介词 from。如:die from an e

14、arthquake (a traffic accident, a lightning, a stroke, etc) 死于地震(交通事故、雷击等)(3) 若死因是环境影响到体内,即两方面共有的原因,则可用 of, from 均可。如:die of from a drink ( a wound, overwork, starvation, hunger and cold, etc) 死于饮酒(受伤、劳累过度、饥饿、饥寒等)但是在实际运用中,两者混用的情况较多。many、much、a lot of的用法区别一、many、much、a lot of的用法many意思是“很多”,与可数名词复数连用;m

15、uch意思是“很多”,与不可数名词连用。a lot of既可与可数名词连用,也可与不可数名词连用。它们在句中可作主语、宾语和定语等。如:I dont have many friends here.在这里我没有很多的朋友Many died in the bus accident.许多人在公交车祸中丧失There was a lot of mud on the ground.地上有许多泥。二、many、much、a lot of的区别1)many和much的区别在于many + 可数名词,much + 不可数名词。如:How many people are there at the meeting

16、?会议中有多少人?How much time has we left?他离开多久了?Many of the workers were at the meeting.许多工人在会议中Much of the time was spent on learning.花许多时间在学习上。He has many friends, but few true ones.他有许多朋友,但靠谱的却没几个。There hasnt been much good weather recently.最近都不是什么好天气。2)a lot of(=lots of)和many、much区别在于它们只能用在肯定句中,而many,
