1、唐顿庄园 观后感 My Reviews on Downtown Abbey I have finished the first three seasons of the Downtown Abbey this semester. I hold a firm belief that is an ideological and spiritual feast. Downton Abbey is a British period drama television series created by Julian Fellowes and co-produced by Carnival Films a
2、nd Masterpiece. The series, set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey, depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the post-Edwardian era with the great events in history having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy, such as
3、the news of the sinking of the RMS Titanic in the first series, the outbreak of World War I, the Spanish influenza pandemic, the Marconi scandal in the second series, and the Interwar period and the formation of the Irish Free State in the third series. For me ,it is a visual feast and a huge shock
4、on my thoughts. China born and China bred, I know clearly the social transformation of our nation, from feudal monarchy to an independent, free, democratic and unified socialist country. I have been always curious about the transition of western countries, but the stiff explanation on the history bo
5、oks canf satisfy me at all. The Downtown Abbey shows me vividly the social changes of England during the revolution in a different form. The TV play just focus on a very common as well as typical manor, a quite small part of the whole society where so many things starts and ends.implying the vicissi
6、tudes of the English society. It covers so many elements, from individuals to the whole nation, from daily life to human nature, from materials to emotions. Each person ,from the master to the servants,has his or her own unique story. Everyone, either rich or poor,either in high status or low positi
7、ons, has his or her own happiness and sadness. No ones life is plain sailing in the world. There is always bumps on the road. And you have to choice but to take a deep breath to confront it bravely. And in the process of social development ,no one can stand affected. Faced with the inevitable social
8、 tendacy, no one can resist it no matter how unwilling you are.What we can only do is try to eliminate the resistance and learn to adapt to it. Lots of lines in it move me a lot. Mary said to his father: I am stubborn. I wish I was not,but I am.” This is the voice of human nature. We can be aware of
9、 something improper ,while we can do nothing about it. Lady Grantham once said to the hostess of the finca, Cora, an American, “When something bad happens, there is no point i wishing it had not happened. The only option is to minimize the damage. It just happens and we should live with it.” What a
10、plain truth! This is the fruit of her experience of many years,which impresses me most. By watching this TV show, what I harvest is not only the understanding of English social transition, but also the deeper reflections of life including positive attitudes towards plight, mercy on enemies and something like that. It has exerted profound influence on me.
