5、原因，public participation不被welcome,那么，一个compensating 的participation就应该很重要。作者提供了一个因果关系，线索直接指向第一个空格。后者必然是前者的原因，而且第一个空逗号后面是participation的同位语也就是同义的，我们就找一个participation的近义词。许多时候，像本题一样，这个句子中给出了充分多的解题线索，我们可以唯一的找到了A选项。这里我们看出来，这个题目代表了ETS出题的一个常见思维定势，除去主干之外的其他部分，全部是为主干提供限定解释的，所以这些限定解释，就提供了主干中间空格的线索，同时，其他地方的空格，也可
