5、estateofMaryland.HeservedinthemilitaryduringWorldWarTwo.Becauseofhisexperiencetalkingtopeopleonradio,Conoverwasnotsentawaytofight.HewasneededtointerviewnewsoldiersatFortMeade,Maryland.Afterthewar,hecontinuedtoworkforcommercialradiostations.WillisConoverheardalotofjazzmusicduringthenineteenfortiesinW
6、ashington,D.C.Thiscitywasthecenterofaveryimportantjazzmovement.WillisConoverknewmanyofthejazzmusiciansinbothWashingtonandNewYorkCity.Hehelpedorganizemanyconcerts.Healsohelpedstopracialseparationintheplaceswheremusicwasplayedatnight.Atthistime,mainlywhitepeoplewenttomusicclubseventhoughmanyofthemusic
