Logistics management has played a more and more important role in the development . we need to understand logistics and l
2、earn knowledge. 一、 The definition of logistics Logistics is the function responsible for the flow of materials from suppliers into an organization , through operations within the organization , and then out to customers.二、 Aims of Logistics .With our broad view , logistics managers have two main aim
3、s . The first is to move materials into , through , and out of their own organization as efficiently as possible . The second aim is to contribute to an efficient flow through the whole supply chain . Traditionally , managers concentrate on the first of these , focusing on those part of the supply c
4、hain that they directly control .三、The main functions of logistics :1. Transportation2. Warehousing Management3. Inventory Management4. Packaging5. Purchasing6. Logistics InformationIts obvious that so many functions of the logistics , here are some main parts of the operation of a company . The fol

The aim of intermodal transport is to combine the benefits of several separate modes , but a
6、void the disadvantages of each ; perhaps combining the low cost of shipping with the flexibility of road , or getting the speed of air with the cost of road . The main problem is that each transfer between modes cause delays and adds costs for extra handling . Intermodal transport only works if this
7、 transfer can be done efficiently . Even though intermodal transport is still the first choice of a company or a businessman when they are doing their business .五、 Warehouse is a commercial building which have four functions for storage of goods . The four functions are :1. Production and consumptio
8、n cycles rarely match ;2. Production is carried out differently from how customers consume ；3. Warehousing is also necessary for the company to achieve purchasing and transportation economies ;4. Warehousing of raw materials and components allows the operations to go on smoothly .Warehousing has ach
9、ieved great savings and incurs a major investment .The benefits are obviously .六、 Inventory Management can be defined as stocks or items used to support production , support activities and customer service . The ideal inventory process consists of manufacturing a product to a customers specification
10、 once an order is placed . This is called a make-to-order operation and is characteristic of customized equipment . Such a system does not require stockpiles of materials or finished goods in anticipation of future sales . However any kind of such function should be more practiced , inventory manage
11、ment is a key factor in the successful operation of fledgling business and long-time industry veterans alike . For both kinds of companies , determining whether their inventory systems are successful or not is predicated on one fundamental question : Does the inventory strategy insure that the compa
12、ny has adequate stock for production and goods shipments while at the same time minimizing inventory costs ? If the answer is yes , then the company in question is far more likely to be a successful one . if the answer is no , then the business is operating under twin burdens that can be of consider
13、able consequence to its ability to survive , let alone flourish . According to business experts , perhaps no factor is more important in ensuring successful inventory management than regular analysis of policies . I have already had a rough concept of logistics management after a semesters learning , and the ideal above are my personal view . The transportation , warehousing and inventory should the top three principles for one or a company to succeed their commercial goals .
