1、NANYANG TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY Industrial Internship Programme (IIP) for Biological Science StudentsTHE PROGRAMME IN BRIEFObjectiveThe 22-week Industrial Internship Programme (IIP) from January to June, is offered as a Prescribed Elective course for selected students in Year 4 Semester 2. The stud
2、ents will receive a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree at the end of the 4-year programme. The details of the undergraduates course information can be found on the Schools website at http:/www.sbs.ntu.edu.sg/Undergrad/BS/Pages/Home.aspx The purpose of the internship is to give students the opportunit
3、ies to experience the actual working environment and instill in them the right kind of work attitude and work professionalism so that they can become effective and productive to their respective organisations much sooner than is usual for fresh graduates without such experience.Assessment of Student
4、sParticipating organisation is required to assign a supervisor, preferably a Laboratory Scientist or Researcher, who will be responsible for the student in terms of work allocation, guidance as well as to assess the performance of the student during the IIP period. Students will also be assessed by
5、NTU faculty member.Attachment ProgrammeParticipating organisation is also required to provide an attachment programme. The programme should emphasize on applications, management and hands-on experience for the student to meet the following attachment objectives:a) to apply knowledge learnt in the Un
6、iversity;b) to acquire skills required of a practice-oriented scientist or researcher;c) to strengthen work values through an improved understanding of themselves and the work environment; andd) to gain interpersonal skills that promotes personal growth and development.Allowance and Working HoursThe
7、 allowance paid to the student shall be determined by the organisation. As a guide, for attachment in Singapore, organisations are paying S$800 to S$1,500 per month (CPF exempted). This subsistence allowance paid to students to meet his/her daily expenses and board and lodging (in the case of foreig
8、n student) is not liable to income tax in Singapore, as long as there is no employment contract between the student and the participating organisation.Students will follow the normal office working hours of the organisation.For overseas attachment, students are normally paid according to the industr
9、ial norms in the country of attachment. Work PermitOrganisation taking in a foreign student who is a full-time matriculated or registered student of NTU for local attachment under the Industrial Internship Programme is exempted from applying for a work permit in respect of that foreign student.Insur
10、anceStudents are insured against industrial hazards or accidents through a Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme arranged by NTU. The University has also taken up a Public Liability Policy Insurance to indemnify organisations against claims and damages arising as a result of providing such traini
