Many of us, who came from poor family, although all had high ideals since child and planted the firm belief into the heart that Ill do my best to change my s

2、ituation and squeeze myself into the rank of the rich, just couldnt show constant struggles for the ideal according to my experience. But Gatsby did it. Though his own struggle, he seized a big fortune that a lot of people were too far behind to catch up.Actually, everyone has a high ideal, but the

3、most important is to make it come true with your action. As the child in the poor family the same as Gatsby,I had the same dream as his. And when I did farm work every time, I would swear something such as hard study But my swearing was in vain when I came to the school. So I gave him my best apprec

4、iation.According to the text, as his greatest ideal, the love to Daisy becomes undoubtedly his spirit support during the process of making fortune.Since Daisy took away his heart, he made constant efforts to pursue her. He didnt change his mind whatever happened.In “Supernatural eagle and Swords cou

We said this is the highest state of love. The same as that, Gatsby also died for his lover. So he also reached the highest sta

After reading this chapter and related information about The Great Gatsby, we have to think about the reasons why people refused to come to Gatsbys funeral. In the view of human nature: it is said that humanity is formed in a certain social system and

8、 under certain historical conditions. In the “Jazz Age ”-an age of materialistic, pleasure-seeking supremacy and the anomic, people cared more about money and their possession. People were influenced by the stream of “American dream” which is a belief, a desire that in full of opportunities and weal

9、th American land, people can realize their dreams after personal struggle. But the material prosperity brought the anomic and disappointment instead of the disappearance of narrow prejudice on different social hierarchy. Gatsby become rich by dealing with illegal business in order to get his Daisy b

10、ack. Hundreds of people came to his luxury party and indulged in hedonism in order to make their life less unbearable. Daisys married life was unhappy since her husband, Tom, had a lover name Myrtle. She went to Gatsbys party just to get mental satisfaction and to get rid of her nada. But on hearing

11、 Gatsbys death, Daisy and Tom had gone away early that afternoon. Those chance visitors vanished as if they had never appeared before. They thought Gatsby deserved all that. He had died so that his prosperity was also had gone away. They couldnt enjoy it any more. The best choice was to leave him al

12、one.In the view of friendship, I firmly believe that a friend in need is a friend indeed. But in the “Jazz Age”, I see that a friend in interest is a friend indeed. The friendship was based on your status, possessions and reputations. After those were gone, in the face of difficulties, the irrespons

13、ibility, indifference, hypocrisy of friendship appeared in front of us. Before the car accident that she killed Myrtle, Daisy made use of Gatsby to get her mental satisfaction. After the car accident, Daisy and Tom retreated back into her money or vast carelessness. Tom shirked responsibility to Gat

14、sby so that Wilson killed Gatsby. They smashed up things and creatures and let other people clean up the mess they had made. That was total irresponsibility. In the view of the weakness of human nature: people tend to

17、 be lonely, worried about work and money. People are greedy, selfish and vainglorious. They took advantage of others life for their own benefit. Morality has been marked with the stamp of money. Daisy hadnt sent a message or a flower and had gone away with Tom. She didnt want to give up her quiet an

18、d tasteful life for the sake of Gatsbys love especially after Gatsbys death. What she preferred was to follow Tom and treat Gatsby as a stranger. Klipspringer phoned Mr. Carraway just to get his tennis shoes back instead of coming to the funeral. He used to live in Gatsbys house and benefit a lot. F

19、or the work and money, Meyer Wolfsheim, Tom, Dan Cody etc kept them out of the funeral. They were selfish. If they couldnt benefit from doing things, they would find more excuses to refuse others request. They were on the way to prosperity. How could they be blocked by Gatsbys death? Now, Gatsby had

20、 died and he was useless. They neednt come to his funeral.The lonely and tragic funeral was made up of peoples irresponsibility, vanity, hypocrisy and indifference at that age. 27、itted murder.Those who used to enjoy and chat with Gatsby also made a choice not to attend his funeral. They preferred to be a coward rather than stand out to support Gatsby. They refused to attend his funeral because of their indifference, jealousy, self-pity, selfishness and the betrayal of their

Furthermore, the most impressive friend of Gatsby is a man who calls for a pair of shoes, a pair of tennis shoes he left at Gatsbys home. He cares about his shoes, his picnic, except Gatsby. The other group of peo

33、ple who refused to come is his party friends. These people come to Gatsby for free meals and a place to enjoy themselves. Maybe some of them even dont know who Gatsby is, let alone come to his funeral to express their sorrow. Actually, they have nothing related to Gatsby, so they wont come to Gatsby

34、s funeral. In conclusion, peoples refusal to come to Gatsbys funeral reflects peoples indifference and selfishness. They only care about money and their own interests. They never treat others with sincere hearts. Their relationship with others is using and being used. For them, there is no love, no

The people often came to Gatsbys party and enjoy the happy life when Gatsby were alive. However, they were unwilling to come to his funeral and express a little sorrow

40、 to him when he died. They just enjoyed material, and they had no feeling and friendship. They were just like a corpse and they just knew money, binge and food. They know nothing except these materials. Their life was so luxury and meaningless and their spirit was so decayed and empty. According to
