1、中学生物学STS课堂教学初探“癌症”课堂实录作者：李媛文章来源：生物学通报2005年第12期目前，我国正在进行新一轮的课程改革，2003年实验版高中课程标准中就把“认识生物科学和技术的性质，能正确理解科学、技术、社会之间的关系，运用生物科学知识和观念参与社会事务的讨论”作为课程的目标之一。在继承现行生物学教育优势的基础上，新课标在倡导面向全体学生和探究性学习的同时，更加关注提高学生的生物学素养。而关注学生并鼓励他们参与到与生物技术有关的社会问题的讨论和决策中，又恰恰是生物科学素养的重要组成部分，也是培养学生对自然和社会责任感的重要途径。因此，在中学生物学教学中渗透STS教育不仅能够帮助学生更好
2、地适应社会也是时代发展的需求。如何在中学生物学教学中对学生实施STS教育，结合高中生物学教学笔者做了一点尝试。首先，根据现行高中生物学教材选择合适的内容作为STS教学的切入点。然后再将它们编成教学案例，在教学过程中结合具体的问题组织学生共同分析和学习。“癌症”这一案例的教学就是在讲完“细胞的癌变和衰老”后插入的，它是一种在教师指导下，师生共同解决问题的探究式教学。 课前准备安排学生课下通过各种渠道，如课外书、图书馆、报刊杂志、网络搜寻关于“癌症”的相关资料。将活动的有关讨论材料提前发给学生以便让他们熟悉各自的角色。 教学目标了解与癌有关的一些基本知识，增加医疗保健常识。培养学生对待癌症及癌症病
3、人的正确态度。 学习方式：小组讨论、角色扮演。 辅助教具：实物投影仪、小黑板。本节课由个部分组成：活动 ：你对癌症了解多少？活动 ：阅读，填自测表。活动 ：案例分析：陕西化县龙岭村癌症调查。活动 ：角色扮演：珍爱我们的生命。教师活动学生活动评析昨天，已经让同学们在课下收集了有关“癌症”方面的资料，你有哪些问题希望和大家一起交流（鼓励学生提出问题，培养学生的问题意识）活动 ： 你对癌症了解多少？（ 小声议论）问： 癌症的种类很多， 常见的有肝癌、胃癌等等， 身体的任何一个部位都可以诱发癌变吗？让学生课下查阅资料是为了培养他们通过不同的渠道收集信息的能力解释肝炎和肝癌的区别，说明这个问题需要专门向
4、医生请教对学生争论的问题， 必要时给与帮助向学生推荐一个普及癌症知识的网站，用以解决学生感到困惑的问题巡视解疑。向学生出示一些与癌症有关的图片说明技术的进步检测出了一些不被人们认识的癌症。进一步说明科学与技术之间的关系答：中药、基因治疗， 简单解释答：癌症病人的生存时间越来越长，例如，早期宫颈癌的治愈率几乎达到100。巡视，回答学生在填表过程中的疑惑问：假如现在你们家有一个非常不好的饮食习惯，你的母亲非常喜欢吃酸菜，并经常做给你们吃，现在通过本节课学习，你知道了酸菜是致癌的，那么你打算怎样去说服你的母亲？巡视，给在角色扮演中出现困难的小组提供帮助。由于时间的关系，活动的角色扮演只进行了个小组，
5、因此要求他们课下将活动的内容以文字的形式写下来，两天后，教师收到了他们的作业。答：我看到一个资料， 除了头发和指甲，其他部位都可以得。答：只听说过心脏病， 没听说过心癌，心脏会发生癌变吗？问：癌症传染吗？答：会传染。去年我的一个同学的父亲得了肝癌，他由于去护理而被传染上了（争论）答： 我妈妈是医生， 我可以回去问问他（充分利用可利用的学习资源）问：癌症会遗传吗？问：癌症能够彻底根治吗？学生在相互争论中回答有关问题（10min）活动阅读、填自测表（时间大概在15min）阅读相关资料：什么叫“癌”？ 癌症的种类和起因、癌症的早期症状、癌症与饮食、癌症的治疗手段等等（小组同学之间可以相互交流）。小组
6、阅读讨论，提出问题，班内同学交流：问：为什么现在的癌症病人的数量和种类比以前多，是现在人们吃得太好了吗？答：大气污染可能是一个主要原因，工厂排出的废气，吸入人体后，对人体的危害很大。答：土壤被污染、化肥的使用可能也是一个原因。问：除了手术、化疗和放疗外，还有什么方法？问：癌症可以完全治愈吗？（争论）填测试表：内容是与癌症有关的10道小题，小组同学之间可以相互讨论回答教师的提问答：给她讲道理，说明酸菜里面含有一种致癌物，为了全家人的健康，以后不要再吃了。答：如果多次劝说，母亲还不听的话，就把她带到肿瘤医院，让她亲自看看那些癌症病人。答：我要亲自为全家人做一道菜，让他们都觉得这道菜比酸菜更好吃，慢
7、慢让他们改掉吃酸菜的习惯活动、：分析案例暨角色扮演阅读一段关于陕西化县龙岭村癌症调查的材料，然后，进行案例分析。每人组成一个小组，选取一个组长。每个小组的学生分别扮演如下角色： 医生、县政府官员、癌症研究人员、教师研究的主要问题是：你们可以给龙岭村人们提供的建议是什么？（时间15min）小组发言纪实：政府官员：首先起草一份报告，报告中阐明事态的严重性。并向政府申请一定的资金，投入到灾区。其次，通过新闻媒介，呼吁更多的人来关注龙岭村，带头向社会募捐。所筹集的资金，一部分用来救济贫困家庭，一部分投入到有关科研单位，开展对癌症的研究。癌症研究人员：我要深入到村民的实际生活中去，看看他们的饮食习惯和生
8、活习惯是否合理。如果不合理就把一些合理的东西介绍给他们。考虑到村民的文化程度比较低。因此，应该采用一些比较能令他们接受和喜欢的方式去改变他们， 如图片、宣传画等， 然后再申请一定的资金为我的研究做后盾。教师：召开一个以“癌症”为主题的班会，然后组织全班学生向村民发放一些宣传单，并在村里张贴一些宣传画。医生：尽自己最大的力量去挽救或延长那些癌症村民的生命，并尽量减轻他们的痛苦课堂上通过教师和学生之间的交流， 不仅扩大了信息量， 同时也提高了学生的交流能力 案例涉及的问题有的是多学科的。教学中会有一些突发的事件，有很多问题教师回答起来也有一定的困难，需要利用多种学习资源。通过对这个问题的讨论，目的
9、是引导学生更好地理解“科学”与“技术”之间的关系。待添加的隐藏文字内容2教师提这个问题的目的是为了增强学生的自觉行动意识，当生活中面临一些具体问题时，不只是光空喊口号，而要有实际的行动。就要勇于承担起应该承担的责任，目的是培养学生对社会和家庭的责任感。“陕西华县龙岭村癌症调查”是一个真实案例，材料来源于网络资源。运用角色扮演大大增强了学生对活动的责任感，有效地调动了学生对活动投入的积极性，使课堂教学的气氛处于活跃状态。同时通过协作活动，增进了学生的团队意识。课后记：通过本节课的教学，首先，绝大多数学生对“癌症”有了一定的认识，这些知识对他们将来的生活是有益的。其次，改变了学生原有的学习方式，通

14、man take a leap into an unimaginable free fall from the edge of space - live.The (lack of) air up there Watch man jump from 96,000 feet Tuesday, I sat at work glued to the live stream of the Red Bull Stratos Mission. I watched the balloons positioned at different altitudes in the sky to test the win
15、ds, knowing that if they would just line up in a vertical straight line we would be go for launch.I feel this mission was created for me because I am also a journalist and a photographer, but above all I live for taking a leap of faith - the feeling of pushing the envelope into uncharted territory.T
16、he guy who is going to do this, Felix Baumgartner, must have that same feeling, at a level I will never reach. However, it did not stop me from feeling his pain when a gust of swirling wind kicked up and twisted the partially filled balloon that would take him to the upper end of our atmosphere. As
17、soon as the 40-acre balloon, with skin no thicker than a dry cleaning bag, scraped the ground I knew it was over.How claustrophobia almost grounded supersonic skydiverWith each twist, you could see the wrinkles of disappointment on the face of the current record holder and capcom (capsule communicat
18、ions), Col. Joe Kittinger. He hung his head low in mission control as he told Baumgartner the disappointing news: Mission aborted.The supersonic descent could happen as early as Sunday.The weather plays an important role in this mission. Starting at the ground, conditions have to be very calm - wind
19、s less than 2 mph, with no precipitation or humidity and limited cloud cover. The balloon, with capsule attached, will move through the lower level of the atmosphere (the troposphere) where our day-to-day weather lives. It will climb higher than the tip of Mount Everest (5.5 miles/8.85 kilometers),
20、drifting even higher than the cruising altitude of commercial airliners (5.6 miles/9.17 kilometers) and into the stratosphere. As he crosses the boundary layer (called the tropopause), he can expect a lot of turbulence.The balloon will slowly drift to the edge of space at 120,000 feet (22.7 miles/36
21、.53 kilometers). Here, Fearless Felix will unclip. He will roll back the door.Then, I would assume, he will slowly step out onto something resembling an Olympic diving platform.Below, the Earth becomes the concrete bottom of a swimming pool that he wants to land on, but not too hard. Still, hell be
22、traveling fast, so despite the distance, it will not be like diving into the deep end of a pool. It will be like he is diving into the shallow end.Skydiver preps for the big jumpWhen he jumps, he is expected to reach the speed of sound - 690 mph (1,110 kph) - in less than 40 seconds. Like hitting th
23、e top of the water, he will begin to slow as he approaches the more dense air closer to Earth. But this will not be enough to stop him completely.If he goes too fast or spins out of control, he has a stabilization parachute that can be deployed to slow him down. His team hopes its not needed. Instea
24、d, he plans to deploy his 270-square-foot (25-square-meter) main chute at an altitude of around 5,000 feet (1,524 meters).In order to deploy this chute successfully, he will have to slow to 172 mph (277 kph). He will have a reserve parachute that will open automatically if he loses consciousness at
25、mach speeds.Even if everything goes as planned, it wont. Baumgartner still will free fall at a speed that would cause you and me to pass out, and no parachute is guaranteed to work higher than 25,000 feet (7,620 meters).It might not be the moon, but Kittinger free fell from 102,800 feet in 1960 - at the dawn of an infamous space race that captured the hearts of many. Baumgartner will attempt to break that record, a feat that boggles the mind. This is one of those monumental moments I will always remember, because there is no way Id miss this.
