1、What Makes A Star In the News Reporting Field?Almost every American knows Peter Charles Archibald Ewart Jennings with ABC, Dan Rather with CBS and Tom Brokaw with NBC just as many Chinese people know Bai Yansong and recently Yang Yu with the CCTV. Not like Hollywood movie stars or pop singers, these

2、 news people do not wear attractive clothes, nor do they appears on famous international shows, and nor do they give performance in front of large piles of people lively, but they do or did attract lots of attention nation wide or even globally, win peoples love, respect, and trust., and gain great

3、fame.On what do they depend to achieve all these admiring success just by reporting news items to people at a certain period of time in front on TV? According to my study of Peter, Dan, Tom, Yang Yu and Bai Yansong, I find they share 4 indispensable characters and other personal reasons.At first, th

4、ey stick to one fundamental principal that the truth is the only thing to stick to. One of the main characters of the news is truth which is deeply borne in mind by all of news people. Peter Jennings once said:” As a host, I deeply feel the weight of social responsibility. I can never neglect my aud

5、ience.”. What is it that the audiences want to know from news hosts?It is the truth, of course. To present the truth to the audiences is exactly what he did without fear for anything-power, money or threats and so on. Peter asked what the audiences wanted to know without the consideration for the in

6、terviewers no matter they were politicians or president. Dan Rather lost his job from CBS because he “wrongly” reported President Bushs service record. However Dan said he would continue to investigate the whole thing. To seek and broadcast truth brought these star news people troubles, but it also

7、helped to establish their status in the public and win the audiences trust. Some American say they would rather believe Peter, Dan and Tom than the President. The same thing happens to Yang YU and Bai Yansong. They said no matter how well you did, once you lied to the audiences and was exposed, peop

8、le would never believe you again, your fate was doomed.Second, they have rich experience as a reporter and they learn from the scenes. Peters success is a perfect evidence for this. He was appointed the News anchor twice by ABC, but at the first time, when Peter was 26, he failed because of lacking

9、experience. He resigned and went aboard to report news from the front for 10 years. Ten years job as Chief correspondent in the Middle not only increases the experience for Jennings also made him a high reputation in the international press. In 1983 he began to host the World News Tonight”, and afte

10、r three years efforts he became the first super star of ABC in terms of news broadcasting. This time people recognized him as mature with a head of philosophy.
