Food culture, as one of Chinese great cultures, has special impact to neighbouring countries , eve
2、n to the whole world. As early as in Tang Dynasty , lots of communications started between China and Japan. It was at that time that Chinese food culture deeply influenced Japan. The following is to introduce the similarities and differences between Chinese and Japanese food culture.Firstly,food mat
3、erial。The staple food of China and Japan is rice-based.Rice plays a important role in Chinese and Japanese food culture.The two countries both agree with the view that rice is the staple of food of ideal. Thanks to its geographical location, Japanese eat larger amount of fish than Chinese .Secondly
4、, cooking method. Chinese food is a type of delicious dishes, focusing on the combination of color, smell and taste. In contrast ,Japanese put more emphasis on “new, extraordinary, fresh”, a kind of nutritious dishes . Chinese cuisine is divided into a variety of cuisines. It has 20 kinds of cooking
5、 methods such as roasting, frying, explosion, boiled, fried, steamed, fried . Japanese daily cooking methods are quite limited : boiling, roasting, frying and baking .Thirdly , methods and concepts of hospitality. When Chinese invite guests to have a dinner,hosts usually prepare a large amount of me
6、als to show hosts, hospitality. Instead, Japanese prepare right meals to entertain guests so that guests can be satisfied while waste is avoided.Fourthly ,tableware. In China,tableware plays an important role. Before the official start of each meal, chopsticks, bowls and plates must be placed in fro
7、nt of diners in advance, which is the same as in Japan . Both Chinese and Japanese use chopsticks . However , chopsticks are of different material , bamboo in China and metal in Japan.Food culture in China and Japan is inextricably linked due to long history of contacts between the two coutries. There are lots of differences as well as similarities, which reflects its own special culture. Food culture is just one part of culture. But there is a word.Culture knows no boundaries.There is no best culture but developing culture.
