The third part explain the reason for the difference between the existing marriage. Through the comparison of the culture of

But due to the geographical environment, historical background, developing process and other aspects of difference, every nation has its characteristics. American society pay a
6、ttention to individual rights and interests and freedom; But Chinese society pay attention to moral life and interpersonal interdependence. Among them is the characteristics of marriage. Admittedly, with the development of society and the Chinese and western culture fusion, the understanding of the
7、marriage is changing. But the basic idea still has not changed, for a nation to be forever in the world, not only should have the ability to adapt the trend of the develop, but alsoto keep their own cultureand social features.二、本课题在国内外的研究状况及发展趋势A large number of scholars and specialists have made gr

The following studies are worth mentioning: Jing (2009) talk about the distinctive culture background shaped their respective family getting. In America with their strong value on individualism and Americans ac
9、cept romantic love instead of arranged marriage. In the old days of China, the extended kinship system restricts the choice of the marriage partners. In America, the most common structure is the nuclear in character. In contract, at the same time the typical and traditional Chinese family is extende

Thesis ProposalThe chosen subject for my graduation paper is Cultural Differences in Marriage Between America and China. For a student with English as the main subject at uni
13、versity, a sound comprehension and flexible application of the cultural differences between America and China is very important and may serve as a firm foundation for work after graduation. It is as arduous to master the complex and erudite literature of marriage. However, the knowledge concerning l
14、inguistics has been a great help to me.The process of doing research in this subject is really strenuous, but at the same time inspiring. By strenuous, I mean I have plunged in and attentively consulted all relevant information from books, journals, technical literature and the internet. By inspirin
15、g, I mean such information enlightens me, whether directly or indirectly, as to my subject from many significant aspects and thereafter gives birth to my methods of thinking. The research involves not only a thorough and deep understanding of a chain of basic principles in linguistics, particularly
16、in respect of pragmatics, but also a detailed study of marriage.A brief and succinct analysis of literal translation of English into Chinese will be inevitably involved, but a follow-up reflection on cultural factors will be very much emphasized.A rich array of well-selected examples will be presented to lend weight to my point.Your comments and advice, directions and instructions are of great help and will be the shining points in my preparation of the paper.
